Hornets win conference clash with Trumann
Harrisburg (7-7) made enough free throws down the stretch to secure an 87-82 win over Trumann (4-7) in senior boys basketball action his past Tuesday in Harrisburg.
Gatlin Greeno got the Hornets on the board first with a four-point as he netted a three-pointer and added the free throw after being fouled for a 4-0 Harrisburg lead. Ben Turner got the Wildcats on the board with a basket inside making it 4-2 Hornets. Greemo got inside for a Harrisburg scored before Trumann got a jumper followed by a three-pointer from Aaron Hamilton and a stick back basket from Jacob Ferguson making the score 9-6 Wildcats. Alex Moses hit a jumper in the lane for Trumann as Hamilton connected on another three-ball for the Wildcats stretching their lead to 14-6 with 2:36 left in the opening quarter. Tommy Maloney hit a jumper for the Hornets, Turner put back an offensive rebound for Trumann before Zach Biggers canned a three-pointer for Harrisburg and Greeno added a jumper for the Hornets to make the score 18-13 Trumann. Ferguson drilled a three-ball for Trumann, Tommy Malone answered with a three-pointer for Harrisburg as Turner hit a jumper in the lane for the Wildcats to make the score 21-16 after one.
Harrisburg scored the first five points of the second quarter to tie the game at 21 as Gavin Casebier hit one of two free throws, Dylan Mathis hit one of two free throws before adding a three-pointer. Kelon Booker scored off the fast break for Trumann only to see Greeno score inside for Harrisburg and Biggers drain another three-pointer for the Hornets to make the score 26-23 Harrisburg with 4:04 left. Booker scored inside for Trumann before Harrisburg scored the next seven points with Greeno hitting one of two free throws before adding a three-pointer, Maloney hit two free throws and Casebier hit one of two free throws making the score 33-25 Hornets. Cody Roland hit a three-pointer for the Wildcats and Greeno scored inside for Harrisburg to give the Hornets a 35-28 halftime lead.
