Lady Wildcats win opening round game of Kell Classic

Trumann (5-8) used a strong second half as they posted a 51-23 win over Flippin in their opening round game of the Kell Classic this past Saturday in Swifton.

Olivia Greenwell got Trumann on the board first with one of two free throws as Flippin tied the game with one of two free throws. Clementine Collins scored inside for the Lady Wildcats as Greenwell followed with a three-pointer to make the score 6-1 Trumann with 4:20 left. The Lady Bobcats added two free throws to make the score 6-3 Lady Wildcats after one.

Star Simmons scored inside for Trumann to start the second quarter as Flippin hit four straight free throws to make it 8-7 Lady Wildcats. Ty Crockett drilled a three-pointer from the left wing for Trumann before the Lady Bobcats added three more free throws to make the score 11-10 Lady Wildcats. Simmons scored inside again for the Lady Wildcats only to see Flippin get a basket down low and a three-pointer to take a 15-13 lead. Greenwell canned a three-pointer from the left wing and then hit two of three free throws after being fouled attempting a three-pointer giving Trumann an 18-15 lead with 1:06 left in the half. Greenwell canned another trey with 30 seconds left to push the Lady Wildcats lead to 21-15 at the half.
