Molder making updates at sheriff's office
New Poinsett County Sheriff Kevin Molder is working on bringing some technological updates to the sheriff's office. He said he wants to be transparent and very open with the public about what's going, and the coming changes will be part of that.
As part of that effort, a new Facebook page has been launched, and a new website will be up later in January. The Facebook page is Poinsett County Sheriff's Office and can be found by searching @poinsettsheriff. In addition to information found on the department's current website, the new website will have press releases and--in the future--an inmate roster. Many of the counties surrounding Poinsett currently have online inmate rosters, and Molder said Poinsett's will be similar to one on the Craighead County Sheriff's website. Craighead's inmate roster shows current inmates, new inmates, and recent releases along with mugshots and information on each inmate.
Sheriff Molder also said he has ordered 12 laptops for deputies to allow them to do reports in the field. "If a deputy is working in Marked Tree, Lepanto, or Tyronza, they won't have to drive back to Harrisburg to write their report," Molder said. "They can do it in the field. This will save on fuel, and it will also lead to quicker response times."
Chris Crews is the new chief deputy, and Steve Rorex will serve as jail administrator. Molder said he will also be announcing a search and rescue director later in January.
Molder also wants to build up the reserve program again and is planning to have a reserve deputy course later in January.
