Marshall leads Junior Lady Indians to win

MaKayla Marshall tossed in 21 points on the night to lead Marked Tree to a 41-18 win over conference rival EPC this past Tuesday night in junior high girls' basketball in Marked Tree.

The Junior Lady Indians jumped out a 7-0 lead as Marshall hit a jumper in the lane, Taylor McCuiston hit one of two free throws, Marshall stuck back an offensive rebound and McCuiston went coast to coast for a lay-up. Emili Mangrum got EPC on the board with a basket inside only to see Shira Hendrix drill a three-pointer for Marked Tree followed by an old-school three-point play from Marshall to push the Junior Lady Indians lead to 13-2 with 1:53 left. Kalandra Madden hit a jumper in the lane for the Junior Lady Warriors before Kaylee Hood canned a three-pointer for EPC to make the score 13-7 Marked Tree at the end of one.

McCuiston hit one of two free throws for Marked Tree to open the second quarter scoring as Madden hit another jumper in the lane for EPC to make the score 14-9 Junior Lady Indians with 2:36 left. Marked Tree went on a 7-0 the remainder of the quarter as Marshall scored six straight points with a jumper, a basket inside inside and a steal and lay-up before Hendrix hit one of two free throws to make the score 21-9 Junior Lady Indians at the half.
