Late free throws give Junior Wildcats victory

Dedrick Coleman hit one of two free throws with six seconds left and then added one of two again with 0.4 left as Trumann downed Harrisburg 38-36 in junior high basketball action this past Friday at Wildcat Gym.

Harrisburg jumped out to an early lead as Sam Massengill and Brennon Honeycutt hit back to back to three pointers to make it 6-0 Junior Hornets. Ray Michael Jones hit a jumper in the lane before Honeycutt canned another three-ball for Harrisburg to make it 11-0 Harrisburg. Cameron Blagg stopped the run and got the Junior Wildcats on the board with a jumper in the lane to make the score 11-2 Junior Hornets with 2:46 left. Massengill hit one of two free throws for Harrisburg only to see Coleman and Logan Creekmore hit back to back jumpers for the Junior Wildcats to make it 12-6 Harrisburg. Jones hit one of two free throws for Harrisburg as Logan Creekmore canned another three-pointer for Trumann to make it 13-9 Junior Hornets after one.

Honeycutt scored back to back baskets early in the second quarter to push Harrisburg's lead to 17-9 before Trumann got a three-pointer from Logan Creekmore and a jumper from Coleman to make it 17-14 Harrisburg with 3:16 left. Jones scored inside for Harrisburg as Logan Creekmore drilled another three-pointer and then added one of two free throws for the Junior Wildcats to make the score 19-18 Junior Hornets at the half.
