Junior Yellowjackets fall to BIC in district tournament

Bay scored the first points of the game and then never led again as Buffalo Island Central (BIC) built a double-digit lead by halftime before going on to post a 35-26 win in semi-final action of the 1A/2A-10 boys' junior district tournament last Thursday in Marked Tree.

Tyler Hartgen gave Bay its only lead of the night with a steal and lay-up making it 2-0 Junior 'Jackets. BIC scored inside and added one of two free throws to make it 3-2 as Braison Morris hit one of two free throws for Bay to tie the game a 3 with 2:46 left. The Junior Mustangs canned a three-pointer, Aaron Jolly got a stick back for Bay as BIC canned another three-pointer to make the score 9-5 Junior Mustangs at the end of one.

BIC opened the second quarter with back to back three-pointers before adding a stick back basket to make it 17-5 Junior Mustangs. Paiton Hartley drilled a three-pointer for Bay making the score 17-8 BIC with 1:42 left. BIC added back to back scores in the last minute to make the score 21-8 BIC at the half.
