Lady Hornets hold on for 42-41 win over Trumann

Harrisburg's Jessica Webb hit a jumper in the lane with six seconds as the Lady Horntes (15-11) survived a last second shot from the Lady Wildcats (8-16) to win 42-41 in opening round play of the 4A-3 district tournament being played at Pocahontas.

Harrisburg jumped out to a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter as Keely Curtis started the scoring for the Lady Hornets with two free throws as Emily Armstrong followed with a three-pointer to make it 5-0 with 2:08 left. Kylie DeVries hit two free throws as Emily Armstrong canned another three-pointer at the buzzer to make.

Zaria McGuire got Trumann on the board with a basket inside only to see Harrisburg score the next nine points as Webb scored inside, DeVries scored off the fast break, Webb hit two free throws with DeVries drilling a three-ball to make it 19-2 Lady Hornet with 2:50 left in the first half. Star Simmons scored inside for Trumann, Curtis got a lay-up off the break before Lexi Jackson hit a three-pointer for the Lady Wildcats to make it 21-7 Harrisburg at the half.
