ARLINGTON, Texas - Michael Darwin McCarty, 57, of Arlington, Tex. passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 16, 2017. Michael was born on October 9, 1959 in Trumann, Ark. After graduating from Trumann High in 1978, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University in 1984. From there, he went on to have a very successful 18 year career with K-Mart as the Western Division store planner of the construction and design department. Thereafter, he continued his career for approximately 12 years with Co-Op Financial Services as a supervisor and a team leader.
Michael will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He was preceeded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy McCarty, and his two older sisters, Janice DuPuis and Linda Knapper. He is survived by his husband and life-long partner of almost 26 years, Christopher Reeves; his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Shelia McCarty of Trumann; his Aunt Inez Lee of Chico, Tex.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he adored, including but not limited to the following, Brandie McCarty-Cole, Breah McCarty-Adams, Cameron McCarty, Fallon and Tessa Jo Adams, Harry and Conner McCarty and Kaiya Cole, all from Ark. and Jackie Elmore of Red Oak, Tex.; his God-Children, whom he loved as his own, Skylar Foster Gilbert and John Foster Gilbert, both from Arlington, Tex. and many cousins.
The Celebration of Life service was held on Feb. 25 at Burlway Gardens, Mansfield, Tex. Because of Michael's love for gardening, plants in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
