Summer activities set at libraries

With school out for the summer, many families will be looking for something fun for the kids. The libraries in Craighead and Poinsett Counties have a full schedule of events planned through the summer months. The West Poinsett County Library, the Poinsett County Library, the Goldsby Public Library in Lepanto, and the Marked Tree Public Library will begin their programming the first week of June.

Marked Tree

The Marked Tree Public Library will have crafts on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. beginning on June 6 through July 25 (with the exception of July 4). The library will host storytimes each Wednesday at 1 p.m. starting on June 7 and ending on July 26 (excluding July 5). Tween programming will take place on Thursdays at 3 p.m. from June 15-July 27 (excluding July 6). There will be a game/movie event on the following dates at 3 p.m. on June 9, June 16, June 30, and July 14.

The Natural History Educational Company of the Midsouth will have a live animals show at the library on June 19 at 3 p.m. The library will have a bingo game for adults on June 23 and July 21 at 3 p.m. Tech Fun will be held on June 26 and July 17 at 2:30 p.m. Rocky Clements' Show of Wonder will be July 24 at 3 p.m. This magic show will feature tricks from around the world to go along with the Summer Reading Club theme of Build a Better World. An awards party will take place on July 28 at 3 p.m.

Lepanto

The Goldsby Public Library in Lepanto will offer programming for teens on Mondays from June 5-July 24 at 1 p.m. Crafts will take place on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. from June 7 through July 26. Each Wednesday at 2 p.m. the library will offer storytimes from June 7 through July 26. The library will offer gaming on Thursdays at 2 p.m. from June 8 until July 27. There will be special events and/or movies on Fridays at 2 p.m. starting on June 9 and ending on July 21.

The Natural History Educational Company of the Midsouth will have a live animals show on June 19 at 5:30 p.m. Shawna Adams of NHECM will bring the animals. This is a great event for kids and their parents to learn about unusual animals. Tech Fun will take place on June 26 and July 17 at 4 p.m. The Clement-McCrae Puppets will perform their marionette show on June 13 at 6 p.m. Rocky Clements' Show of Wonder will be at 6 p.m. on July 24. This magic show will feature tricks from around the world to go along with the Summer Reading Club theme of Build a Better World. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will have a program at the library at 2 p.m. on June 16. The fish aquarium from the AGFC will be at the library at 2 p.m. on July 14. St. Bernard's will offer free health screenings for adults from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Harrisburg

There are some special events planned for summer where guest performers will be showcased at the Poinsett County Library in Harrisburg. The Natural History Educational Company of the Midsouth will have a live animals show on June 19 at 11 a.m. The Clement-McCrae Puppets will perform their marionette show on July 11 at 10 a.m.

On Monday nights through the summer, there will be strength training workouts at 5 p.m. Storytimes will be held each Tuesday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. from June 6 through July 18 (with the exception of July 4). Movies will be shown at 1 p.m. on June 12, June 22, June 28, July 3, July 10, and July 17. Tech fun, an event where kids can learn more about technology, will take place on June 7 and July 5 at 1 p.m. If your kids like crafts, there are three opportunities this summer! Crafts will be held at 1 p.m. on June 26, July 12, and July 19.

The library will host book clubs for various age groups during the summer. Junior Book Club is planned for June 8, June 15, and June 22 at 1 p.m. Teen Book Club will be held at 1 p.m. on June 14, June 21, and June 28. Adult Book Club will be held on June 2 and July 27 at 4:30 p.m. The End of Summer Party at the Harrisburg library will take place on July 25 at two times. You can join in on the fun at 9 a.m. and at 1 p.m.

Weiner

Each Monday from June 12 through July 24, the West Poinsett County Public Library in Weiner will have tween day at 3 p.m. for those who have completed 4th-6th grades. Storytimes will be held each Tuesday at 3 p.m. starting on June 6 and going through July 18. Storytime will not be held on July 4. Crafts will take place at the library on Thursdays at 3 p.m. from June 8-July 20.

Movies will be shown at the library in Weiner on Fridays at 3 p.m. starting on June 9 and ending on July 21. On June 7 and July 5, Tech Fun will take place at 3 p.m. The End of Summer Party will take place on July 25 at 3 p.m.
