Mavis Winters

TRUMANN - Mavis Louise (Holt) Winters, was born April 28, 1926 in Trumann, Arkansas and returned to live there many years to be close to her extended family, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the age of 91. She was born the daughter of James Campbell and Amy Elizabeth (Bolin) Holt. Mavis married Mr. Paul Nixon Winters and they enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage before his passing on December 22, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille Carter and Mildred Kirby and three siblings of childhood age, Beulah Holt, Herbert and Claude Holt. Mavis enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Poinsetta Women’s Club and served on the Country Club, City Beautification, and Election Committee. She is survived by her sons, Gary Paul Winters and wife Karen of Spring City, Tenn. and James Campbell Winters of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Gary’s children, Daniel Ethan Winters and Laura and husband Brett Zimbrick both of Atlanta, Ga. and Timothy Scott Winters of Columbus, Ohio. Mavis will be buried next to Paul in Nettleton Cemetery. Graveside services were held June 16, 2017.
