Herman Meister, Jr.
Mr. Herman Walter Meister, Jr. of Cherokee Village, formerly of West Memphis and Harrisburg, departed this life Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Three Rivers Nursing Home in Marked Tree, at the age of 84.
He was born April 11, 1933 in Poinsett County, Ark., the son of Herman Meister and Nettie Fae Newsom Meister.
Herman was a retired mechanic and electrician for Western Textile in Memphis, Tenn. He married Ella Yvonne Meister on June 22, 1957 and they enjoyed 55 years together before her death in 2012. Most of their life was spent in the West Memphis area. He loved to travel and sightsee. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, Ernest Meister and one sister, Helen Rieathbaum.
He is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Meister McDonald of West Memphis, Ark.; three sons, Herman W. Meister, III, (Tammy) of Benton, Ark., Paul Meister (Denise) of Harlan, Kent., and Wade Meister (Debbie) of Bartlett, Tenn.; one sister, June Morgan of Harrisburg, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Savannah Harris, Cassandra McDonald Martin, Tyler D. Meister, Trenton Meister, Jeremy Meister, Beth Meister, Kaitlyn Meister and Jackson Meister, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 1st at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg. Interment followed at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.
