EPC (1-0) opened their senior high football season with a 44-6 over Marianna Lee in high school football action in Marianna. Dee Buchanan led the way for the Warriors with 126 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Jonathan Gilmore added 65 yards rushing and a touchdown. TJ Bush had a two-point conversion rushing and receiving, Eric Driver had a two-point conversion rushing as Ty Garret had a two-point conversion reception for the Warriors. Andrew Harston had an interception return for a touchdown as Andrew Cavitt recorded 11 solo tackles for EPC.

Harrisburg (1-0) got a scoop and score from Tayshaun Warren after a Ray Michael Jones sack jarred the ball loose as the Hornets made a defensive stand late that preserved a 12-6 win over rival Cross County in a game played at Cooksey-Johns Field due to poor field conditions at Harrisburg. Lance McGinnis led the Hornets with 96 yards rushing and a touchdown. Clay Wright was 5 of 10 passing for 99 yards with Jameson King having two catches for 49 yards. Mason Summers and Dakota Bass led the defense with 12 tackles each as Ray Michael Jones and Ross Heeb each had 11tackles. Warren and Ray Michael Jones each recorded two sacks as Parker Jones had a sack. Gavin Casebier and Warren each recovered a fumble as Dylan Mathis added an interception.

Marked Tree's Paul Coleman had 175 yards rushing and two touchdowns along with a touchdown catch to lead the Indians (1-0) to a 33-15 win over Clarendon in high school football action this past Friday night in Marked Tree. Julian Booker added 108 yards rushing with a touchdown and two-point conversion while adding 33 yards through the air and a touchdown. Jack Brown tossed a 28 yard touchdown pass to Chris Ivy for the Indians.

The Trumann Junior Wildcats posted a 24-0 win over Hoxie on the road last Thursday night. Rian King had 70 yards rushing and a touchdown to lead Trumann as Chris Webb finished with 65 yards rushing and a two-point conversion run. Izzy Carillo chipped in 45 yards rushing with a touchdown as Connor McClain had two two-point conversion runs. The Junior Wildcats rushed for 234 yards on the night while holding Hoxie to 65 total yards.

EPC's Junior Warriors went to the road to Walnut Ridge and lost a tough fought game 28-24 to the Junior Bobcats. No game stats were made available by press time for the paper.

The Marked Tree-Harrisburg junior high football was postponed due to inclement weather and has be rescheduled for September 25 at 7 pm.
