Trumann's Lady Wildcats (2-10) volleyball team took a 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-15 three games to one win over Cave City this past Tuesday night at Wildcat Gym. Hannah Craig had 17 kills and three aces to lead Trumann. Sydney Callahan had 23 assists, Mycha Wilson finished with 14 assists, Jenny Walton had 16 digs, Olivia Greenwell added 13 assists and three aces as Hannah McClaughlin totaled 12 assists.
The Harrisburg Lady Hornets volleyball team moved to 7-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference play with a 25-23, 26-24, 26-24 win at Pocahontas this past Monday. Olivia Deckelman had 11 kills to go along with 11-11 serving, two aces and two blocks. Jehlian Wright finished with 10 kills and 16 digs, Destany Lovell added seven kills and two blocks, Emily Newcomb was 15-17 serving with three aces and 40 assists, Shaw Faulkner collected three aces and 16 digs, Lacey Lambright was 16-16 serving with 18 digs and Kayna Gardner added five kills for the Lady Hornets.
Trumann's Adrianna Patterson shot 51 to tie for medalist honors this past Monday in high school golf action at Manila. The Lady Wildcats also got 57 from Anna Waleszonia and a 58 from Olivia Greenwell to finish with a 166 team score beating Armorel who shot a 169 team score.
Trumann moved to 2-0 on the high school football season as they jumped out to a 42-0 halftime lead on their way to a 42-14 this past Friday at Manila. Cade Gartman led Trumann in rushing with 68 yards on five carries with a touchdown. Cole Bingham finished with 48 yards on four carries and a touchdown, Jay Morgan added 46 yards on five carries and a touchdown, Noah Milligan had 30 yards on two carries and a touchdown as Koltan Jones also had a rushing touchdown. MJ Barnes had five tackles to lead the defense as Jarred Carter blocked two punts with John Dunman returning one block punt for a touchdown.
The Warriors of EPC also went to 2-0 as they held on to beat Walnut Ridge 14-6. Dee Buchanan and Eric Driver both went over the century mark rushing with 134 and 112 yards respectively. Andrew Harston added 54 yards on the ground as he and Buchanan both had a touchdown rushing with Buchanan adding a two-point conversion run. Driver had an interception as EPC's defense held the Bobcats to 83 yards rushing and 86 yards passing.
The Trumann Junior Wildcats went to 2-0 on the year with a 14-0 win over Manila. Chris Webb scored on a 9 yard run with Izzy Carillo adding the two-point conversion run. Connor McClain also added a 3 yard touchdown for Trumann. Gaven Guy led the team with 60 yards rushing followed by Carillo with 50 yards and Webb with 45 yards. Trumann's defense only allowed 77 yards on the night.
Drew Wright hit TJ Venable with a 10 yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter and the Junior Hornets defense made it stand up as Harrisburg downed Cedar Ridge 7-0 in junior high football action last Thursday. Kaden Lindsey added the point-after. Colby Summers led the Junior Hornets in rushing with 26 yards as Keaton Speer led the receiver with 29 yards. Wright finished with 10 completions on 19 attempts for 124 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
