The Harrisburg Lady Hornets (7-4, 3-3) fell to conference foe Brookland 17-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-25 this past Tuesday in Harrisburg. Emily Newcomb finished 10-12 serving with two aces to go along with 35 assists and 8 kills, Olivia Deckelman was 12-12 serving with six kills and one block, Lacey Lambright had six kills and nine digs to go with 16-17 serving, Shaw Faulkner was 10-11 serving with eight digs, Destany Lovell totaled eight kills as Madison Peden had three kills and one block.
Harrisburg's Bryce Deckelman (82) and Trumann's Jake Robert (95) both qualified for the Class 4A state golf tournament for their finishes at the 4A-3 district golf meet this past Tuesday at Pocahontas. Harrisburg finished third in the team standings with a 291 as Trumann finished fourth with a 298.
The Trumann Lady Wildcats volleyball team lost to Pocahontas 25-17, 25-14, 25-10 in high school action this past Monday in Pocahontas. Sydney Callahan was 6-6 serving with eight digs, Olivia Greenwell was 9-10 serving with one ace, nine digs and three assists, Jenny Walton totaled eight digs and was 6-6 serving with an ace, Hannah McClaughlin finished with five digs and four assist as Hannah Craig added four kills.
Harrisburg's Ansley Wixson (96), Adrianna Patterson (110) of Trumann and Cassie Armstrong (110) of Harrisburg all qualified individually for the Class 4A state golf meet with their performances in the 4A-3 district golf meet this past Monday in Pocahontas. Harrisburg shot 326 to finish third as a team as Trumann finished fourth with a 348.
Harrisburg (2-1) lost their first football game of the year as they fell 44-34 to Walnut Ridge this past Friday. Clay Wright finished the night hitting 15 of 28 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns as Lance McGinnis rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Weston Stanford has five catches for 76 yards, Dylan Mathis had three catches for 76 yards and a touchdown as Jameson King had one catch for 20 yards and a touchdown. Ross Heeb had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery to lead the Hornet's defense as Dakota Bass had 10 tackles and fumble recovery. Tayshaun Warren also recovered a fumble.
Will White accounted for three touchdowns in three different ways, kick-off return, rushing and passing, as the Trumann Wildcats (3-0) beat Paragould 40-20 this past Friday in Paragould. Cade Gartman had seven carries for 162 yards and two touchdowns as White added 111 yards rushing on three carries. Koltan Jones added a touchdown run as Alex Moses had a touchdown catch.
Marked Tree (2-1) stopped Westside on their two-point conversion attempt with five seconds left to come away with a 28-27 win this past Friday. Paul Coleman finished with 17 carries for 169 and a touchdown, Julian Booker had 21 carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns while throwing a touchdown pass, Gavin Lowry had eight catches for 128 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion catch as AJ Johnson added a two-point conversion run.
Harrisburg's Junior Hornets (1-1) fell 44-22 to the Gosnell Junior Pirates last Thursday in junior high football action. No state were made available to the PCDT at press time.
Chris Webb blocked a punt for Trumann that led to a 20-yard touchdown pass from Connor McClain to Azani Smith as the Junior Wildcats beat Highland 8-0 last Thursday in Highland. Gaven Guy led Trumann with 60 yards rushing and a two-point conversion run as McClain and Rian King added 40 and 22 yards rushing respectively. Trumann held the Junior Rebels to 84 yards total offense.
EPC (2-1, 2-0) got touchdowns from five different players as they downed Midland 42-8 this past Thrusday in junior high football. Austin Baker had 52 yards rushing with a touchdown to lead the Junior Warriors. Preston Rains completed two of five passes 73 with two touchdown passes to Deuce Moore. Barry Rossell, Jr., Peyton Edings and Kade Jennings each added a touchdown run for EPC. Baker, Drew Lung and Jennings each had a two-point conversion run.

Emily Newcomb had 24 assists to go along with 13-13 serving to lead Harrisburg as Olivia Deckelman was 15-14 serving with 15 digs and six kills. Destany Lovell had seven kills with Shaw Faulkner adding 11 digs.
