Harrisburg (10-5, 5-2) won all three sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13, to pick up conference win over Cave City this past Monday in high school volleyball action. Emily Newcomb led the Lady Horents with 24 assists and 13 digs while going 19-21 serving with seven service aces. Olivia Deckelman was 12-14 serving with 5 service aces and eight kills, Jehlian Wright had seven kills, Madison Peden and Destany Lovell each had six kills as Shaw Faulkner had 10 digs.
Harrisburg (3-2, 1-1) fell to conference foe Pocahontas 62-26 this past Firday at Hornet Stadium. Clay Wrght completed 18 of 26 passes for 279 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions while adding 40 yards on four carries and a touchdown. Lance McGinnis led the Hornets in rushing with 83 yards on 17 carries. Dylan Mathis finished with seven catches for 118 yards and touchdown, Jameson King had two catches for 72 yards and a touchdown, Gavin Casebier had four catches for 56 yards with Weston Stanford adding four catches for 19 yards and a touchdown.
Trumann (5-0, 2-0) jumped out to 12-0 lead only to see Westside come back and take a 14-12 lead at the half. Trumann responded in the second half by scoring 20 points and holding the Warriors scoreless to take a 32-14 win this past Friday at Wildcat Stadium. Cade Gartman led Trumann with 254 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. Will White had 12 carries for 37 yards a touchdown while completing three of three passes for 82 yards a touchdown. Alex Moses had three catches for 100 yards a touchdown for the Wildcats.
The EPC Warriors (3-2, 1-1) beat Midland 36-6 this past Friday as Eric Driver had 21 carries for 217 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion run. Dee Buchanan added 83 yards on 11 carries and touchdown as Andrew Cavitt total 48 yards on four carries with a touchdown. Driver led the Warriors' defense with 14 tackles with Zach Maddox finishing with eight tackles, four of those tackles for a loss.
Harrisburg (1-3, 0-3) hosted Pocahonts for a 4A-3 junior high conference game last Thursday as the visitors came away with a 38-6 win over the Junior Hornets. Drew Wright hith Keaton Speer with a seven yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. The Junior Hornets were held to 39 yards of total offense on the night.
The EPC Junior Warriors (3-1, 3-0) beat Salem 20-14 last Thursday as Gavin Constant interpepted a pass with less than a minute left to help preserve the win. Preston Rains completed three of four passes for 86 yards while rushing for 62 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns. Austin Baker had a kick-off return for a touchdown with Drew Lung adding a two-point conversion run. Candon Argo had an interception for EPC.
Marked Tree (0-4) went on the road to Rose Bud last Thursday for junior high football actin as the Junior Indians fell 48-28. Aiden McGuire led Markeed Tree with 73 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown as LaRay Brown added 50 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Aayden Johnson ahd five carries for 37 yards and a touchdown while also adding a kick-off return for a touchdown.
The Harrisburg Lady Hornets (9-5, 4-2) downed the Trumann Lady Wildacts (2-17, 1-7) in three sets, 25-14, 25-9, 25-17, this past Thursday in volleyball action in Harrisburg. Emily Newcomb had 19 assists and four service acest to lead Harrisburg as Olivia Deckelman finished with 14 digs and four kills as she went 16-18 serving with four service aces. Shaw Faulkner was 16-17 serving with two service aces to go along with nine digs, Madison Peden had six kills and two blocks as Kayna Gardner and Jehlian Wright each had five kills. Olivia Greenwell led Trumann with 10-10 serving and five assists as Hannah Craig finished 10-10 serving with three kills. Hannah McClaughlin had four kills, Haley Mathis had three kills, Sydney Callahan had three kills as Misty Moye and Mycha Wilson had 20 and 11 digs respectively for the Lady Wildcats.
