EPC's Madison Wiggins and Railey Jennings were ousted 6-3, 6-0 in the quarter-finals of the Class 2A state tennis tournament this past Monday by a team from Hampton. EPC's Trey Howard and Isaiah Taylor were also eliminated this past Monday 6-0, 6-2 by Parkers Chapel. Kurstin Bryan of EPC made it to the semi-finals before ending up with a fourth place finish. In the Class 4A state tournament, Harrisburg's Abby Edwards lost 6-2, 6-3 in opening round play this past Monday to eventual state champion McKenzie McCready of Robinson.

The Bay Lady Yellowjackets (1-0) got 27 points and 12 rebounds from Mallory Hartley as they downed Marmaduke 57-54 in the season opener for both school this past Monday in Marmaduke. The defending 1A state champions also got 16 points from Sarah Blackman as Abby Frisby netted 10 points. Kaylee Crain pulled down 17 rebounds for the Lady 'Jackets. The Junior Lady Yellowjackets lost 51-28 as Destiny Bogard scored 15 points for Bay.

EPC (5-2, 2-1) picked up a conference with this past Friday night with a 26-20 win over Salem in high school football action at Warrior Field in Lepanto. Eric Driver led the EPC offense with 15 carries for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Preston Rains, who moved up from junior high team, completed six of twelve passes for 126 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion pass as Andrew Harston caught four passes with a touchdown and a two-point conversion pass. Dee Buchanan added 90 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Andrew Cavitt led the defense with nine solo tackles as Peyton Phillips had six solo tackles. Jonathan Gilmore finished with seven tackles as TJ Bush and James Lard each had an interception.

Marked Tree had an open week this past Friday and will play at Salem this Friday night.

EPC (5-1, 5-0) and Cross County had to go overtime to find a winner last Thursday night as Austin Baker scored from two yards out to give the Junior Warriors a 34-28 win and at least a share of the 2A-3 conference title. A win over Earle this Thursday give EPC the outright title. Baker finished with six carries for 48 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion with Rains adding 42 yards on eight carries with a touchdown and two-point conversion run. Candon Argo had a touchdown catch, Drew Lung rushed for a touchdown as Deuce Moore has a touchdown pass for the Junior Warriors.

Marked Tree (1-5, 1-4) won their first game of the season with a 16-14 win over Rector last Thursday at Rector. LaRay Brown finished with six carries for 64 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion run as Aayden Johnson had 60 yards on five carries with a touchdown for the Junior Indians. David Gilley had 11 tackles to lead the defense as Orlando Harper had nine tackles.
