Mallory Hartley scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds at Bay (5-4) beat Cross County 60-26 this past Tuesday in Cherry Valley. Sarah Blackman and Abby Frisby added 18 and 11 points respectively for the Lady Yellowjackets.

The Lady Indians of Marked Tree fell to Rector 35-29 in girls high school basketball action. Jayla Carter led Marked Tree with 10 points. The Junior Lady Indians lost a close one 36-33 as Taylor McCuiston and MaKayla Marshall each had 14 points.

The Harrisburg Hornets (1-0) won their season opener over NEACHE at the Hornet's Nest in Harrisburg. Zach Biggers led the Hornets in scoring with 24 points, Gavin Casebier finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds as Walker Brown added 12 points.

Marked Tree (8-2) advanced to the second round of the Class 2A state football playoffs with a 56-19 win over Spring Hill this past Friday at Don Lovell Memorial Field in Marked Tree. Paul Coleman led the way with 12 carries for 100 yards and three touchdowns while catching two passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Julian Booker was 11-19 passing for 228 yards with a touchdown and an interception as he gained 55 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns. Jack Brown had four catches for 72 yards as Gavin Lowry had four catches for 66 yards. Lowry and Kylen Johnson both had seven tackles to lead the Indians' defense.

Trumann (9-2) had their football season come to end with a 28-7 loss to Ashdown in the opening round of the Class 4A state football playoffs this past Friday at Wildcat Stadium. Cade Gartman finished the night with 24 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown while catching one pass for 11 yards. Will White rushed 13 times for 20 yards while going 3-11 passing for 23 yards and an interception. Alex Moses caught two passes for 12 yards and added five tackles on defense, Jarred Carter added six tackles with Zac Burchfield making five tackles with two sacks.
