Osment leads Junior Wildcats to win over Marked Tree

Drew Osment canned six three-pointers on his way to 22 points to lead Trumann to a 52-48 win over Marked Tree this past Friday in Trumann.

The Junior Wildcats jumped out to an 11-0 lead as Azani Smith hit a three-pointer before Osment scored off the fast break before hitting back to back three-pointers. Aayden Johnson got Marked Tree on the board with a three-pointer as Trent Creekmore answered with a three-ball for Trumann to make the score 14-3 Trumann with 2:52 left. Itavious Nesbitt hit one of two free throws for Marked Tree and followed with an old-fashioned three-point play to make the score 14-7 Junior Wildcats. The Junior Indians got back to back fast break lay-ups from Zander Criswell and Trevon Wofford before Tray Jones hit one of two free throws to make 14-12 Trumann at the end of the first quarter.

Johnson scored inside for Marked Tree to open the second quarter Jaquavious Love scored inside for Trumann followed by a three-ball from Osment to make it 19-14 Junior Wildcats with 2:54 left. Parks McNair hit a jumper in the lane for the Junior Wildcats as Osment canned another three-ball for Trumann to make the score 24-14 Trumann. Nesbitt put back an offensive rebound for Marked Tree and followed with a steal and lay-up to make the score 24-18 Trumann. Osment canned his fifth three-pointer of the first half at the buzzer to give the Junior Wildcats a 27-18 lead at the half.

Osment hit two free throws for Trumann to open the third quarter as Creekmore followed with a three-pointer to stretch the Junior Wildcats' lead to 32-18. Johnson was fouled shooting a three and hit all three free throws for Marked Tree only to see Smith drill another three-pointer to make the score 35-21 Trumann with 4:12 left. Creekmore hit a jumper in the lane for the Junior Wildcats as Smith followed with an old-school three-point play for the Junior Wildcats to make it 40-21 Trumann. Nesbitt converted a conventional three-point play for the Junior Indians as Jones got a steal and pulled up for a jumper for Marked Tree to make it 40-26 Trumann. Creekmore hit a trey for Trumann before Jones made back to back baskets for Marked Tree to make the score 43-30 Junior Wildcats with 44 seconds left in the quarter. Osment hit another three-pointer for Trumann, Criswell hit a baseline jumper for Marked Tree as Chris Webb netted a three-pointer for the Junior Wildcats with one second left to give Trumann a 49-32 lead headed to the fourth quarter.

Jones hit a baseline jumper for Marked Tree to open the scoring in the final quarter as Webb hit a three-pointer for Trumann before Wofford hit two free throws for the Junior Indians to make the score 52-36 Trumann with 4:54 left. Jones got a steal and lay-up and followed with a three-pointer for Marked Tree to cut the lead to 52-42 before the Junior Indians got one of two free throws from Marshall, a steal and lay-up from Wofford and an inside basket from Marshall to make it 52-46 Junior Wildcats with 29 seconds left. Jones added a coast to coast lay-up with three seconds left making the final score 52-48 Trumann.

Joining Osment in double figures for the Junior Wildcats was Creekmore with 11 points as Smith added nine points. Webb had six points with McNair and Love each chipping in two points for Trumann.

Jones led the Junior Indians with 16 points as Nesbitt finished with 11 points. Johnson netted eight points, Wofford had six points with Criswell and Marshall scoring four and three point respectively for Marked Tree.
