Junior Lady Indians get win over EPC

Marked Tree jumped out to a double digit lead in the first half before hanging on in the second half to beat EPC 38-35 in junior high basketball action this past Monday in Marked Tree.

The Junior Lady Warriors got on the board first with a three-pointer from Abby Martinez to make it 3-0 EPC before the Junior Lady Indians reeled off the next 16 points. Taylor McCuiston got a steal and layup, Shira Hendrix hit one of two free throws, Daija Allen canned a three-ball as Hendrix followed with a three-pointer to make it 9-3 Marked Tree with 1:32 left. MaKayla Marshall scored back to back baskets as Hendrix hit a three-pointer right before the buzzer to push the lead to 16-3 after one.

Zoe Constant hit two free throws for EPC to make it 16-5 Marked Tree with a minute gone in the second quarter only to see Hendrix hit back to back treys for the Junior Lady Indians to make the score 22-5 Marked Tree. Emili Mangrum scored inside for the Junior Lady Warriors, Martinez stuck back an offensive rebound and Keragan Gordon had a steal and layup as EPC cut the lead to 22-11 with 3:07 left. McCuiston hit a baseline jumper for Marked Tree before adding one of two free throws as Martinez hit a jumper for EPC to make the score 25-13 Junior Lady Indians at the half.
