Lady Warriors beat Marked Tree for first win of season

EPC used a big third quarter to take the lead on their way to a 49-41 win, their first of the season, over the Lady Indians this past Monday in Marked Tree.

Madison Wiggins gave EPC the early lead with a stick back basket and followed with a three-pointer to make the score 5-0 Lady Warriors. Jayla Carter hit a jumper for Marked Tree making it 5-2 as Bre Ward canned a three-ball for EPC to make it 8-2 Lady Warriors. Carter cut the lead to one as she scored inside and followed with a trey for the Lady Indians to make it 8-7. Bre Ward hit two free throws for EPC before CJ Barnes got a steal and layup for Marked Tree as Carter hit one of two free throws for the Lady Indians to tie the game at 10 with 3:35 left. Tileyah Ward scored back to back baskets for the Lady Warriors, Carter canned a three-ball for Marked Tree as Barnes added two free throws for the Lady Indians to give Marked Tree a 15-14 lead after one.

Destinee McGee's jumper made it 17-14 Lady Indians 12 seconds into the second quarter as another basket would not be made until Wiggins stuck back a rebound for EPC to make it 17-16 Marked Tree with 4:45 left. McGee netted a baseline jumper for the Lady Indians as Carter hit one of two technical free throws for Marked Tree to make it 20-16 Lady Indians. Tileyah Ward got a steal and layup for EPC before Bre Ward scored inside for EPC to tie the game at 20-20 at the half.
