Lepanto Council approved budget, personnel policy
During a brief meeting Tuesday night, the Lepanto City Council approved the amended 2017 budget as well as a change to the personnel policy.
The personnel policy change came as a result of the 2016 audit. The policy stated that employees could receive a check for vacation pay if they do not use their vacation days but did not include elected officials. City Clerk/Treasurer Tamara Wyatt takes a check in lieu of using vacation days, but the auditor said the personnel policy had to be updated to allow elected officials to do so. The council unanimously approved the change.
The council received copies of the 2018 budget to review before the next meeting. The budget includes three percent raises for city employees and money to pay a third full-time police officer to help keep overtime down. The council also received an ordinance on unsightly property to review and vote on next month.
