Lady Hornets fall to Marmaduke in Kell quarter-finals

Harrisburg couldn't get the stops they needed on defense as Marmaduke handed the Lady Hornets a 55-46 loss in the quarter-final round of the Kell Classic this past Monday at Swifton.

Natalie Lentz scored the first five points of the game for the Lady Greyhounds with a layup off the jump ball to start the game, one of two free throws and a basket inside. Ansley Wixson canned a three-pointer to get Harrisburg on the board making 5-3 Marmaduke. Reesa Hampton drilled a three-pointer for the Lady Greyhounds, Cassie Armstrong scored inside for Harrisburg, Emma Foster hit two free throws for Marmaduke as Wixson canned back to back three-balls for the Lady Hornets to make it 11-10 Harrisburg with 1:52 left. Johnson scored inside for Marmaduke before Vanessa Rivera hit a jumper for the Lady Hornets to make the score 13-12 Harrisburg at the end of one.

Marmaduke opened the second quarter with a 12-0 run as Lentz scored back to back baskets, Scout Weahterford canned a three-pointer, Foster got a stick back basket and Lentz drilled a three-ball to make it 24-13 Lady Greyhounds. Lessie Dowty hit two free throws for Harrisburg, Hampton connected on one of two free throws for Marmaduke, Armstrong hit a baseline jumper for the Lady Hornets before Anna Meredith hit one of two free throws for the Lady Greyhounds making it 26-17 Marmaduke with 1:56 left. Armstrong hit two free throws for the Lady Hornets as Johnson scored inside for the Lady Greyhounds to give Marmaduke a 28-19 lead at the half.
