Wildcats down Harrisburg in county clash

Trumann outscored Harrisburg 21-9 in the second quarter to erase a six point deficit after the opening quarter as the Wildcats went on to post a 72-52 win this past Friday in Harrisburg.

Gavin Casebier gave Harrisburg the early 1-0 lead with one of two free throws as Trumann got an inside basket from Alex Moses to take a 2-1 lead. Casebier hit two free throws for the Hornets before MJ Barnes hit a jumper for the Wildcats to make it 4-3 Trumann. The Hornets scored the next nine points as Walker Brown scored in the paint, Casebier scored inside, Weston Stanford hit a jumper in the lane before Brennon Honeycutt drilled a three-pointer to make it 12-4 Harrisburg with 1:12 left. Cody Roland scored on a layup for Trumann, Harrisburg got one of two free throws from Brown and a fast break layup from Dylan Mathis as Jacob Ferguson hit a three-pointer for the Wildcats to make it 15-9 Hornets at the end of one.

Trumann scored the first six points of the second quarter as Moses scored inside as Ferguson and Roland canned back to back three-pointers to make it 17-15 Wildcats. Casebier hit a jumper in the lane for Harrisburg before Ferguson hit a jumper for Trumann followed by a basket inside from Roland to give the Wildcats a 21-17 lead with 4:32 left. Honeycutt drilled a three-ball for Harrisburg, Moses has a tip in for Trumann, Stanford scored inside for the Hornets as Barnes hit a baseline jumper for the Wildcats making it 25-22 Trumann. Ferguson drilled another three-ball for Trumann, Mathis hit two free throws for the Hornets before Barnes scored inside for the Wildcats to make the score 30-24 Trumann at the half.
