Junior Lady Yellowjackets fall in thriller at district

Bay fought back from a 14 point deficit at halftime, having only four players on the court the last two minutes of the game, only to see the possible game winning shot bounce in and out of the goal giving Marked Tree the 34-33 win this past Wednesday in 1A/2A-10 junior high district tournament action in Earle.

Bay fell behind 9-0 after the first quarter as Marked Tree got an inside basket from MaKayla Marshall, an inside basket from Shira Hendrix and one of two free throws from Marshall to make it 5-0 with 1:48 left. Bri Washington hit two free throws before Taylor McCuiston went coast to coast for a layup at the buzzer to make it 9-0 after one.

MyKaela Jolly hit three free throws for Bay after being fouled attempting a three-pointer to make it 9-3 as the Junior Lady Indians scored the next seven points with Marshall getting a steal and layup, Washington had a stick back basket as Marshall had another steal and layup to make it 16-3 Marked Tree with 2:36 left. Destiny Bogard hit one of two free throws for the Junior Lady 'Jackets before Marshall went coast to coast for a Marked Tree layup to make the score 18-4 Junior Lady Indians at the half.
