Lady Wildcats' season ends at district tourney

Trumann fell behind early and couldn't recover as the Lady Wildcats ended their season with a 53-37 loss to Highland this past Tuesday in the 4A-3 district tournament being played in Harrisburg.

The Lady Rebels opened the game with a 9-0 run before Trumann got an inside basket from Haley Mathis and a steal and layup from Tay Smith to make it 9-4 Highland with 2:04 left. The Lady Rebels hit two free throws to make it 11-4 Highland with 1:47 left as neither team could find the basket the rest of the quarter.

Highland scored off the fast break two minutes in the second quarter as Mycha Wilson stuck back an offensive rebound for the Lady Wildcats to make it 13-6 Lady Rebels. Highland scored inside before Kayla Spence got a stick back for Trumann to make it 15-8 Highland with 4:16 left. The Lady Rebels hit a jumper and one of two free throws before the Lady Wildcats got a basket inside from Mathis and a three-pointer from Olivia Greenwell to make it 18-13 Highland at the half.
