Bay gets semi-finals win over RCS, falls in district title game

Bay earned a spot in the 1A-3 district championship game with a 57-50 win over Ridgefield Christian School (RCS) this past Wednesday at Armorel High School.

Slade Grove gave Bay a 2-0 lead with two free throws early in the opening quarter as RCS hit one of two free throws to make it 2-1. Grove scored back to back baskets for the Yellojackets to make it 6-1 Bay with 4:30 left. The Warriors hit two free throws Layne Austin scored inside for Bay, RCS added another basket inside before Austin hit two of three throws after being fouled attempting a three-point shot to make the score 9-5 Bay after one.

RCS cut the lead to 9-8 with a conventional three-point play to start the second quarter scoring as Grove scored inside for Bay making it 11-8 'Jackets. The Warriors hit two free throws, Grove converted an old-school three-point play for Bay before RCS scored inside to make it 14-12 Yellowjackets. Bay got a three-pointer and a jumper in the lane from Zach Hampton as the Warriors scored inside with 16 seconds left to make the score 19-14 Bay at the half.
