Perry tabbed for all-state basketball team

Marked Tree's Markel Perry capped off a terrific senior season being chosen as a member of the Class 2A all-state basketball team. Perry led the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game, led in rebounds with 8.8 per game, led in steals with 3.5 per game and led in assists with 3.5 per game. “Markel is one of those kids that has special kinds of gifts that are God given. He's rarely in a bad mood, has good leadership qualities and has great instincts. He's been the motor of this team from day one,” Marked Tree head coach Barbara Wilburn said. Perry helped lead the Indians to a 31-2 record and a runner-up finish in the 2A state tournament. Perry was also named all-conference, All-NEA Tournament team as well as getting the Jim Parrish Educational Scholarship from the NEA Tournament.
