Lady Warriors fall in district tourney finals

EPC faced the hottest team in the district as Salem downed the Lady Warriors 14-1 this past Saturday in the finals of the 2A-2 district tournament in Salem. EPC will be the second seed of the district when regional tournament play starts.

Keragan Gordon grounded out leading off for EPC as Meagan followed with a single. Wiggins singled only to see Emili Mangrum pop out and Jordyn Brewer strike out leaving two runners on base. The Lady Greyhounds used a walk, stolen base and two hits to score two runs in the bottom half to take a 2-0 lead after one inning. Kaylee Hood reached on a bunt single in the top of second inning as Bre Ward struck out. Taylor Hannah reached on a fielder's choice as Hood was safe at second on a bad throw. Kurstin Bryan's sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base before Gordon popped out to leave the runners stranded. Salem tacked on another run in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 3-0 Lady Greyhounds after two.
