Lady Wildcats fall at home to Walnut Ridge

Trumann (6-14, 5-8) won the opening set in a marathon before Walnut Ridge stormed back and took the next three sets to post a 30-28, 5-25, 17-25, 19-25 this past Tuesday at Wildcat Gym.

The Lady Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game one before a Haley Mathis kill got Trumann on the board. Walnut Ridge scored a point before the Lady Wildcats scored the next four with the last two coming on kills by Sydney Callahan and Mallory Mincy that forced Walnut Ridge to call a timeout. Mathis had a block and Callahan another kill around a Lady Bobcat point to make the score 7-5 Trumann. The Lady Bobcats scored two points to tie the game before hitting the ball out of bounds to make the score 8-7 Lady Wildcats. The teams traded point before Walnut Ridge scored five straight points to take a 13-9 lead. Trumann scored two points, the Lady Bobcats got two points as Walnut Ridge scored two points to make it 15-11. Trumann got a point off a net violation before the Lady Bobcats scored two points to make it 17-12 as the Lady Wildcats called a timeout. Two Walnut Ridge kills made it 19-12 as Mathis got a block to make it 19-13 Lady Bobcats. Walnut Ridge got another kill only to see Trumann score six straight with Wilson getting a block and Maci Williams and Callahan having kills in the run to make the score 20-20 making the Lady Bobcats call another timeout. The teams traded points until the score was 28-28 as Walnut Ridge served long and Callahan got a kill to give the Lady Wildcats the 30-28 win.

Walnut Ridge jumped out to an 8-2 lead in game two before Trumann called a timeout. The Lady Bobcats ran the score to 11-2 before the Lady Wildcats got a point off two side outs to make it 11-4 Walnut Ridge. The Lady Bobcats scored the next two points as Wilson got a block for Trumann to make it 13-5 Walnut Ridge. The Lady Bobcats scored the next 12 points to win the second game 25-5.

The third game started off as a back and forth affair as Mincy's kill made it 5-4 Walnut Ridge. The teams traded points before the Lady Bobcats scored two points and a Wilson block made the score 8-6 Lady Bobcats. Walnut Ridge outscored Trumann 4-3 over the next few minutes to take a 12-9 lead as Wilson got another block to make it 12-10. The Lady Wildcats scored off a ball out of bounds, Walnut Ridge scored the next three points, Trumann got another point to make it 15-12 only to see the Lady Bobcats score the next three points making it 18-12 as the Lady Wildcats called a timeout. Walnut Ridge scored six straight points after the timeout to make it 24-12 as Callahan and Jenny Walton had back to back kills to make the score 24-14. Wilson had a block around two balls hit out of bounds by the Lady Bobcats as Trumann cut the lead to 24-17. Walnut Ridge got a kill on next play to take the game 25-17.

Trumann jumped out 2-0 in the fourth game only see Walnut Ridge score three points to take a 3-2 lead. Trumann got a point, the Lady Bobcats score two points before Mathis and Mincy had back to back kills to make the score 5-5. Walnut Ridge score the next six points to go up 11-5 as Emma Turner got a kill making it 11-6 Lady Bobcats. Walnut Ridge slammed a kill as the Lady Wildcats scored three points to make the score 12-9 Lady Bobcats. Walnut Ridge scored a points only to see Trumann get a side out point and an ace from Hannah McClaughlin to cut the lead to 13-11. The Lady Bobcats scored two points, Trumann got a side out point, the Lady Bobcats scored two more points before a serve into the next gave the Lady Wildcats a point to make it 17-13 Walnut Ridge. The Lady Bobcats scored four straight points as two side out points for the Lady Wildcats made the score 21-15 Walnut Ridge. The Lady Bobcats score a point, Mincy had a kill for Trumann and a side out point for the Lady Wildcats made it 22-17 Walnut Ridge. Trumann served into the net giving the Lady Bobcats a point, Trumann got a side out point and a point off a Wilson block making it 23-19 only to see the Lady Bobcats score the next two points to win the game 25-19 and take the match 3-1.

Mincy led the Lady Wildcats on the night with 12 kills, seven assists, five blocks and three digs as Wilson added eight blocks and three kills. Callahan finished with eight kills, Kendriyuna Bobo had 10 digs, Mathis had six kills and four blocks, McLaughlin tallied nine digs and an ace as Walton had three kills and two aces.
