Late collapse costs Junior Lady Indians a victory

Marked Tree scored only three points in the fourth quarter to watch a six point lead turn into a one point loss as KIPP-Delta posted a 21-20 win in junior high girls basketball action this past Friday in Marked Tree.

The Junior Lady Indians jumped out to a 4-0 lead as Nitasia Matthews and Kiasia Burns hit back to back jumpers with just over three minutes left in the opening quarter. KIPP-Delta canned a three-pointer to cut the lead to 4-3 only to see Matthews hit another jumper for Marked Tree with 49 seconds left to make the score 6-3 Junior Lady Indians at the end of one.

Burns hit one of two free throws less than a minute into the second quarter making it 7-3 before KIPP-Delta hit a jumper to make it 7-5. #34 made two free throws for Marked Tree as KIPP-Delta hit another jumper making the score 9-7 Junior Lady Indians with 2:08 left in the half. Dominique Nesby scored inside for Marked Tree before Burns hit one of two free throws to push the score to 12-7 Junior Lady Indians. KIPP-Delta got inside for a score before Burns drilled a three-pointer for Marked Tree at the buzzer to make the score 15-9 Junior Lady Indians at the half
