Lady Warriors pick up home win over Barton

Bre Ward and Keragan Gordon scored 13 points each for EPC as the Lady Warriors beat Barton 44-35 this past Friday in Lepanto.

The Lady Bears scored first with a three-pointer before Gordon hit three of four free throws on consecutive trips to the line to tie the game at three. Barton hit one of two free throws to take a 4-3 lead as Bre Ward hit one of two free throws to tie the game at four. The Lady Bears scored as Tileyah Ward hit one of two free throws and Jessica Gonzalez scored inside to give the Lady Warriors a 7-6 lead with 3:47 left. The Lady Bears scored inside to take an 8-7 lead only to see Bre Ward get a steal and a layup as Gordon canned a three-pointer to make the score 12-8 EPC. Barton hit a jumper before Gonzalez hit a jumper and Kayla Reel added two free throws to make it 16-8 Lady Warriors after one quarter of play.

Barton cut the lead to 16-14 with a basket inside and two free throws only to see EPC get a jumper in the lane from Gordon, a three-pointer from Kaylee Hood and a jumper in the lane from Bre Ward to make it 23-14 Lady Warriors with 3:23 left. The Lady Bears got a basket inside and a three-ball to make it 23-19 as Bre Ward hit three of four free throws over the last 48 seconds to give EPC a 26-19 lead at the half.
