Warriors drop home conference game to Barton

EPC fell behind by double digits and couldn't close the gap in the second half at the Warriors lost 62-53 in 2A-6 conference action this past Friday in Lepanto.

TJ Bush gave EPC an early 2-0 with a basket inside before the Bears scored the next six points to go up 6-2. Jamario Burris stuck back an offensive rebound, Barton got a stick back and a three-pointer as Jonathan Gilmore and Preston Rains scored back to back baskets for EPC making the score 11-8 Barton with 3:56 left. The Bears scored inside only to see Rayshon Gates drill back to back three-pointers for the Warriors to make it 14-13 EPC. Barton canned a three-ball and got a stick back basket to take an 18-14 lead after one.

Barton stretched their lead to 20-14 with a one-hand dunk to open the second quarter only to see Bush hit two free throws, Gilmore hit two free throws and Bush hit a jumper to tie the score at 20. The Bears hit a jumper in the lane, Gates canned another three-ball, Barton hit back to back three-pointers as Tysean Garrett hit a jumper in the lane for EPC to make it 28-25 Bears with 3:12 left. Barton scored the last eight points of the quarter to make the score 36-25 Bears at the break.
