Lady Wildcats pick up conference win over Gosnell
Trumann used a big second quarter to open a double digit lead on their way to a 57-32 win over Gosnell this past Friday at Wildcat Gym. Eleven Lady Wildcats scored points on the night.
Mycha Wilson got Trumann on the board first with a steal and layup only to see the Lady Pirates convert a conventional three-point play and score inside to go up 5-2. Mallory Hartley got a steal and layup for the Lady Wildcats before Gosnell converted another conventional three-point play to make the score 8-4 Lady Pirates. Hartley hit a jumper in the lane for the Lady Wildcats, Gosnell scored inside as Kayla Spence scored inside for Trumann to make it 10-8 Lady Pirates with 2:30 left. Spence hit two free throws, Wilson scored off the fast break and Hannah McClaughlin drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key as the Lady Wildcats led 15-10 at the end of one.
McClaughlin hit a jumper in the lane and Hartley canned three-ball to push Trumann's lead to 20-10 early in the second quarter before Gosnell hit one of two free throws to make it 20-11 Lady Wildcats. Trumann scored the next six points as Spence scored off the fast break, Hartley converted an old-school three-point play before hitting one of two free throws to make it 26-11 with 2:18 left. Gosnell scored inside before Selena Lopez's layup gave the Lady Wildcats a 28-13 lead at the half.
