Lady Wildcats secure regional berth with win over Osceola

Trumann guaranteed them a spot in the 4A East Regional with a 64-45 win over Osceola this past Saturday in Trumann. The Lady Wildcats can finish no worse than second in 3A-3 conference earning a first round bye and a place in the regionals to be held at Wildcat Gym.

Mycha Wilson scored a basket inside to give Trumann the early 2-0 lead before Osceola went to the free throw line three straight hitting four of six free throws to go up 4-2. Hannah McClaughlin canned a three-pointer, Osceola hit two free throws before Mallory Hartley converted an old-school three-point play to make the score 10-6 Lady Wildcats. The Lady Seminoles hit two free throws and scored a basket inside late to make it 10-10 at the end of one.

Osceola hit one of two free throws early in the second quarter only to see Trumann get a jumper from McClaughlin, a basket inside from Christina Jean-Paul, another three-ball from McClaughlin and a basket inside from Jean-Paul making it 19-11 Lady Wildcats. The Lady Seminoles hit one of two free throws and a jumper to cut the lead to 19-14 only to see Trumann get a basket inside from Jean-Paul and two free throws from Hartley to make it 23-14 Lady Wildcats with 3:48 left. Osceola got a stick back basket before Trumann reeled off seven points as Kayla Spence scored inside, Selena Lopez canned a three-pointer and Spence scored off the fast break making it 30-16 Lady Wildcats. Osceola got a basket in the paint before Hartley hit a jumper and Spence made two free throws to give Trumann a 34-18 lead at the half.
