Wildcats fall in double overtime thriller to Osceola

In a game that could of had a different outcome if both teams had not been devious in sending wrong players to the free throw line in crucial situations, the Seminoles outscored Trumann 9-6 in the second overtime to post a 55-52 win in 3A-3 conference action this past Saturday at Wildcat Gym.

Zach Buchanan got Trumann on the board first with a jumper before Osceola hit one of two free throws and had a one-handed slam dunk off a rebound to take a 3-2 lead. Buchanan got inside for a Trumann score as the Seminoles hit a jumper in the lane to make the score 5-4 Osceola. The Wildcats scored the next eight points as MJ Barnes scored inside before Aaron Phelan and Ben Turner hit back to back three-pointers to make it 12-5 Trumann with two minutes left. Osceola scored inside only to see Dedrick Coleman go coast to coast for a layup and Turner throw down a one-handed slam making it 16-7 Wildcats. The Seminoles scored a basket late to make it 16-9 at the end of one.

Turner converted an old-school three-point play for the first points for Trumann of the second quarter as Osceola hit a jumper making it 19-11 Trumann. Buchanan scored inside for the Wildcats, the Seminoles hit a jumper as Turner scored inside for the Wildcats to give Trumann a 23-13 lead with 1:55 left. Osceola hit one of two free throws as Milton Lewis, III scored inside to make the score 25-14 at the half.
