Lady Wildcats shutout Corning in softball season opener

Trumann (1-0, 1-0 3A-3) used a seven run fifth inning to break open a close game beating Corning 10-0 via the run rule in their opening game of the season.

Newcomer Devin Overshine set the Lady Bobcats down in order in the top of the first inning with a strikeout and two ground outs. Sydney Callahan grounded out leading off for Trumann before Karsen Overshine singled in her Trumann debut. Daly Taylor reached on an error putting runners at second and third before Mallory Mincy lifted a sacrifice fly that scored Karsen Overshine making it 1-0 Lady Wildcats. Maddie Roach grounded out to end the inning. Corning got a lead-off single before Devin Overshine struck out the next three batters to keep it 1-0 Trumann. Annaleigh Penter walked leading off the bottom of the second for Trumann as Hazel Russell popped out. Kayla Spence reached on a fielderís choice that forced Penter out at second base before Devin Overshine popped out to the pitcher as the score stayed 1-0 after two innings of play.
