I-40 Bridge, Capitol Attack
This week, ARDOT made a statement that the crack in the I-40 bridge had been discovered in previous inspections but an employee failed to report it. Congressman Rick Crawford of Arkansas’s First District says that while this is disappointing news, it could mean that the foundation of the bridge is secure and will just need a repair rather than a replacement. “ARDOT still indicated that the employee responsible has been let go and turned over to the authorities,” Crawford said.
Also this week the House voted on a commission to investigate the attack on the Capitol on January 6th, 2020. Crawford expressed concern that this commission won’t truly be bipartisan unless it investigates the political discourse that led up to the attack. “The legislation passed the House and is currently waiting on a Senate vote,” Crawford added.
