    John Handcox--labor organizer, poet, and songwriter--was an important part of the history of the Southern Tenant Farmers' Union. Dr. Michael Honey, a professor at University of Washington Tacoma who spoke at the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum last Friday, first met Handcox as a graduate student in the 1980s when Handcox was rediscovered after having disappeared for decades.
